Kia ora ki a koutou katoa
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Hone Tamepo and I have been given the privilege of teaching in Room 8 at Rongomai Primary School for 2017. I am a descendant of Ngāti Porou from the East Coast and Ngāti Awa from the Bay of Plenty. I have recently completed my degree in teaching with Te Wānanga Takiura o ngā Kura Kaupapa Māori o Aotearoa. I have a good knowledge of our Māori language and culture and I have a passion to teach our children by using our culture, Māori and Pacific Island, to enrich and develop our children into good students, good people and leaders for our future. I believe by using our culture and stories that we can bring to light their identity and excite their imaginations.
I am excited about this year and am looking forward to our time to sit together and talk about the year ahead and how we can work together to help our children to believe and pursue their dreams.
Our door is always open if you would like to come in and observe or have a chat.

Kind regards

Matua Hone
